Week 9. STOP PRESS!! Technophobe Thicky Publishes Website . . . .

YES!!!! I’ve finally done it, I’ve created and published my own website – it’s live right now on the web, just click the links to the right under My Websites and My Products or go to www.the-sleep-invaders.com and there you can see in all it’s glory my new re-born website.

If you haven’t guessed by now I’m more than a little pleased with the results not least because when it comes to things like this I’m quite hopeless as a rule but this time with a little application and a whole lot of help and support I managed to get through it and the sense of achievement is most satisfying.

The week 9 videos contained a lot of technical stuff (or so it seemed to me) to get through such as linking up pages of the website to various other places in order to make the order process run like clockwork. So the basic gist of it goes like this:

1. Potential customer arrives at my website (how they arrive there we have yet to learn but I’m sure it’s ingenious)

2. He/she is mesmerised by the fantastic graphics created for me by Planet Divinity

3. They then go on to read a wonderfully written piece of honest (most important) copy-writing fiendishly designed to make them want the e-book so badly they run for their wallets.

4. They click on an order button that takes them to a safe and secure order page at Clickbank where they can enter their payment details.

5. Once payment has been approved, they are then re-directed to a Thank You page containing all the instructions they need to download a fantastic informative e-book,

6. After a matter of seconds they then have the option of signing up to a subscription to get FREE OF CHARGE UPDATES of the e-book for life and this is where the clever part is because once you have the name and email address of a customer and particularly a ‘satisfied’ customer you can start to build a list/database of customers and from there on you can sell them other related products. This is the crux of Internet marketing – build a list of satisfied customers, sell them a good quality product and give them great service, gather their details and sell to them again and again.

7. Watch the money come in: up to now I’ve made just 7 sales of my e-book and that’s without hardly any promotion whatsoever. So when I really start to crank things up with what John is going to teach us in the next few weeks about driving traffic to our sites – who knows what may happen, it’s quite exciting 🙂

As I said before, I couldn’t have gotten through this weeks tasks without a whole lot of help and my thanks go out to Randy Smith and Paula Brett of D9 Hosting for helping me to get through a tricky domain transfer problem. Also thanks to Daniel Sumner at John Thornhill Coaching for his advice on setting up a support email address.

Onward and upward – Ed

Hello Abdel and many thanks for commenting on my blog 🙂

To be perfectly honest with you sales are trickling in at the moment because even though I have completed the course I have not had time to promote the site due to the fact that I’m moving home and trying to sell my old house which is taking up more time than I expected.

However, if you think about it it’s amazing that I’m getting any sales at all with practically zero promotion. I did upload a short video on youtube which is the same one as is on the website so I think I may have gotten a few sales from this but other than that I’ve not had chance to do anything else.

Things do seem to be calming down now that I’ve moved home and finished preparing my old house for market so I do hope to be getting stuck in and promoting the website in the next few months.

I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from people coming across the website – a TV documentary crew and a radio station have shown an interest (you can read about this in my blog) so this should help make the site more visible and that is really one of the main keys to getting sales – you could have the most fantastic website but if no one knows it exists then you wont make sales.

Keep in touch Abdel and let me know how you get on with your own projects.

    All the best to you

    Ed
